5) Please request that the administration inform the faculty of annual tuition increases as early as possible in each academic year. My response: That seems like a fair request. Moreover, I am going to talk to the President and Provost as to why the portion of the budget spent on faculty salaries has been consistently shrinking. When I put together the list of administrators for the survey earlier this year, I was surprised to see that we have over 100 administrators on a campus with 250 faculty. A different faculty member expressed the same sentiment to me after the April Faculty Senate meeting. I am kind of curious as to how sensitive enrollment is to cost of tuition. If we could cut costs by 5%, would we get a 5% increase in enrollment? I am willing to bet that a lot of faculty, students, and trustees would like to see this cost curve as well. I'll see if we can get that data by the President's Retreat in June.
