The following is a summary of the feedback I got to yesterday's Facforum "Faculty Senate inaugural address", along with my responses. 1) Get the administration to openly discuss before the Senate any planned major land sales. My response: That seems like a fair request, although I think that the more appropriate way to handle this would probably be a faculty meeting of the affected college(s) and department(s). Just today, the Provost told me that when he tells something to the deans, he trusts that the information filters down the chain-of-command. He also told me that he thought that one proper role of the Faculty Senate President was to ensure that such information filters to and from the faculty via the Faculty Senate President. He plans to make use of me in that capacity, and I thank him for that. If I find something out and get permission to share it, then you'll know it. On a separate note, I remember several years ago hearing the President give a 20-year plan for how he wanted the building infrastructure on campus to change. It's been a long enough time that perhaps many of us need a reminder. Would it be possible to post that PowerPoint presentation on a web site as a constant reminder of our common FIT vision?
