Solar Music Fair 2006

The Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech) Green Campus Group will hold the Second Annual Florida Solar Music Fair on campus in Melbourne Florida on Earth Day, April 22, 2006, 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.     Program

  What is it?

"A Solar Music Fair or Festival" is a music fest presented to attract people to learn more about sustainability and renewable energy. The event might be combined with similar functions such as "Sustainable Living" to broaden the appeal.

Bonobos Convergence       [ Bonobos Convergence ]

It's an agglomeration of sustainability and renewable energy displays with a music stage powered by solar energy. There are usually manufacturers and dealers displaying their wares. Workshops provide introductory information to the public, but occasionally there are detailed installation or calculation instructions.

We plan to have three or more bands powered by wind and solar power. There will be a group of exhibits of renewable energy and sustainable living, and also workshops dealing with interesting topics.

While you are here, you might want to see the wind turbine on Roberts Hall.
(No tours, just view  from the parking lot west of Country Club Road.)

This is a 1000-watt Southwest Windpower H-80, optimized for a low wind speed domain. In the distance is a 300-watt solar module. The WFIT-FM antenna tower is behind the elevator building. Note the anemometer has been moved from the turbine mast to the tower to monitor wind speeds during hurricanes. Roberts Hall is on Country Club Road west of the campus.
