A Green or Sustainable Campus

A suggestion for a green campus such as many other universities have now:

  Green Campus Proposal

Florida Tech can strive for a greener campus by practicing techniques developed by other universities. Here is a PowerPoint presentation that provides the basic approach.

Students have now formed the Florida Tech Green Campus Group. See their temporary webpage here.

  Green Campus Events

Past:  February 2, 2006, Thursday, 7 p. m:  The Green Campus Group held a movie night at Evans P-133. Jeff Barrie's "Kilowatt Ours" video was shown, and there was a discussion of energy following the movie. Please download this flyer and distribute it. You can learn more about the film at www.kilowattours.org/ and www.kilowattours.org/energy-conservation-film.php

April 22, 2006, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p. m:  The Green Campus Group held an Earth Day Solar Music Fair south of Clemente Center. This was the Second Florida Solar Music Fair, which featured concerts powered by the sun and wind. There were displays of earth-friendly organizations and products, and renewable energy workshops.

  Other Events

October or November, 2006:  The outdoor amphitheater stage facility will be dedicated to the north of Panther Plaza. A student contest selected "Pantherium" as the name in reference to the university mascot, the Florida black panther. This presentation and concert area provides a natural outdoor setting for student events. Made possible by an anonymous donor, it adds a pleasant location for performances to our university amenities. Campus Architect Greg Tsark has designed an excellent facility!
