Absences
See me before the absence when you have conflicts with another course or a trip. Medical absences require a physician's written note. Quizzes cannot be made up later if you are absent without excuse, and you get a zero grade, but there are lots of quizzes to average out higher.
Term Papers and Term Projects: Are these the same?
No, the Term Paper is a professional journal type paper that you will orally present as well, as if you are at a conference. The paper is written as you would submit it to a professional society journal editor.
The Term Project is a physical construction of a "thing", though it may be a booklet, fact sheet, etc. In this example, the project is the creation of the booklet, targeting the audience and message. The project may be to modify or improve some aspect of our field equipment or to create new webpages to educate some segment of the population.
You might create a magazine or newspaper article and submit it to the magazine editor.
What did we do last time?; I was out
Ask one of your classmates first! Find out what assignments were made, what homework or handouts were given out, etc.
Why are we having the final exam on that date? That's not convenient for me!
Can't I take it some other time?
Final exams are set to allow for the longer exam time and thus result in changes in starting time occasionally as well as possibly the exam day. The date and time for each exam are printed the semester before in the "Schedule of Classes". You've seen it before, so don't plan to fly out of town the day of the exam. [The final exam is optional if you don't want a final grade for the course!] Don't miss out!
