About Guest Lecturers

Due to the diversity of Renewable Energy course, guest lecturers are drawn from many disciplines. Some of these may teach or have taught a session.

Ms. Diane Barile

Ms. Barile is an Adjunct Professor at Florida Tech who specializes in environmental science.

Former Commissioner Nancy Higgs

Commissioner Higgs served on the Brevard County Commission and is an expert in county land use, the Comprehensive Plan, ordinances, and other public concerns.

Former Commissioner Sue Carlson

Commissioner Carlson served on the Brevard County Commission and is an expert in sustainability measures in civil government.

Dr. Steven Lazarus

Dr. Lazarus is an Assistant Professor of meteorology at Florida Tech who is expert in atmospheric modeling.

Mr. Kevin Lynn

Mr. Kevin Lynn is a solar researcher at the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa FL.

Dr. George Maul

Dr. Maul is the Department Head of Florida Tech's Marine and Environmental Systems (DMES) and is a Professor of Oceanology.

Dr. John Thomas

Dr. Thomas is a Research Professor of Biological Sciences at Florida Tech and an expert in alternative fuel vehicles, specifically methanol and ethanol fuels.

Dr. Michael Slotkin

Dr. Slotkin is an Assistant Professor at Florida Tech and an economist who understands the complexities of energy economics.

Mr. Jay Wherley

Mr. Wherley  and Mr. Jim Woodfin started Brevard Biodiesel, Inc. to provide an alternate fuel for diesel cars and trucks.
